Anastasia Stephens: about me
Having trained in Nutrition, Herbal Medicine (BSc Hons 2:1) and Hypnotherapy, I've spent over a decade working in, and reporting on holistic health and healing in the national media.
My journey has been a highly personal one, driven by a need to resolve some overwhelming events that happened to me in early adulthood. When I came across Somatic Experiencing which I use as the basis of SE Trauma Therapy, I was blown away by its effectiveness.
The three-year professional training gave a fascinating insight into the causes of trauma and related emotional difficulty – and a clear framework on how to resolve it. Doctors used to believe trauma was for life. However, I learned using this method, that symptoms can be relieved fast and effectively without going in to distressing stories of the past.
I’ve had many sessions, and very often I’ve been profoundly moved by insights and unconscious emotions that have arisen – as well as by the feeling that something significant has changed for the better.
For me, this work has been truly transformative. It has very much reduced the anxiety I used to experience in certain situations, for which I feel a depth of gratitude. And I’ve become more resilient in the face of negative emotions and stressful events, less likely to react and more able to remain centered and calm.
Pioneered by a visionary man in the US, Peter A. Levine, author of Waking the Tiger, I would very much like to offer my thanks to this technique. Moreover, I’d like to spread the benefits of this is powerful work, as I believe it is groundbreaking.
Anastasia Stephens is trained in Somatic Experiencing, Adv Level 111 (SE. FHE), POL Counsellor, hypnotherapist and medical herbalist (2:1 BSc Hons Wmin) and member of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR). She works at the BodyMind Medicine Centre in Bond Street and runs Kensington Trauma Resolution Centre in Notting Hill Gate, London. She writes regularly on health and holistic health for the national media including the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Health & Fitness and Psychologies magazine.
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. Carl Jung
